Small Changes That Lead To Big Results

(3 minute read)

We all start a new year with big, and often unrealistic resolutions when in fact we should just make a few, small changes. These changes, added together, will make a big change in the way you feel and approach certain situations. In turn, accomplishing these small changes can give us the drive and motivation needed to achieve those once unrealistic resolutions.

For this reason we’ve compiled a short list of small and relatively easy changes that you can make right now to give yourself that much needed kick up the backside and start moving towards your larger goals:

Start meditating: meditation has always had a large taboo about it until recently. Modern neuroscience studies now show mediation to be a scientifically proven method for feeling happier and therefore healthier. We recommend the guided meditation app: Headspace, which can be found on most smartphones. Invest in your mental health, you can’t afford not to.

Start looking after your skin: Yes, as men, nearly all of us are guilty of neglecting our skin. A new year is a great time to switch up your routine. Start exfoliating regularly. If your skin is oily and prone to breakouts, try a face mask and invest in a good quality daily face wash. We recommend Baxter of California as they have everything the modern man needs for great looking skin.

Don’t neglect your feet: They’re the part of the body that take the most abuse. We are constantly using them but all of us without a doubt neglect them more than any other part of our body. Get into a routine of washing them as religiously as you wash under your arms and erm… other parts. Make sure you wash and dry thoroughly in between your toes and don’t forget to keep on top of those claws.

Look after your teeth properly: we were all taught to brush our teeth at an age where we don’t really want to brush our teeth. This means we stay in bad habits that we picked up back then. Spend at least 2 minutes on them, remember to brush the backs of your teeth as well as the front, use mouthwash and floss. If you have bleeding gums find an antiseptic mouthwash. We all want good teeth but do nothing about it, start now!

Drink more water: we don’t need to say a lot here, the benefits of drinking enough water are widely recognised. The new year gives you a great time for a clean slate and to try and get into a routine of drinking water instead of sugary or caffeinated drinks. Why not prepare your water at the start of the day, the same way you can prepare your meals.

Start exercising daily: You don’t need to join a gym to exercise. Most exercise can be done at home or outside. Start light and build your way up. 20 minutes a day should be plenty to start you off, as long as you’re working hard enough. Resistance bands and bodyweight exercises are a great way to get started as you don’t need to go to a gym and have the whole place staring at the newbie, in-fact you don’t even need to leave your bedroom!

Start taking vitamins: Some top nutrition experts suggest that almost all of the world’s population are undernourished. This is due to the way the majority of people eat and the way we farm our food. Refined and processed foods offer little or no benefit to the body and have all the micronutrients stripped out during the refining and cooking process. Essentially you are just eating food like substances with no real nutritional value. A good multivitamin and multi mineral combined with at least 8 – 10 portions of plant based food a day should be enough to supply the body with adequate amounts of important vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C, Zinc and Magnesium.

We believe all, or at least most of these changes are easily achievable so put the new £100k a year job resolution to one side and start with the small things. Who knows, feeling and looking better in yourself might bring that new job to you quicker than you think.
